Getting By
Baton Rouge..my new home until next year or so. Not exactly what I hoped it would be, though. But one thing is for sure..it’s tough living in a strange land with no loved ones nearby. In a weeks’ time, I learned to depend on no one but myself. And God of course. This week and the weeks before I came here would have been impossible without the Lord. But, independence…? That’s exactly the word.
Greenpeace and my mother would have a heart attack if they saw me doing the laundry in the bath tub! But it’s either save the earth or starve to death for me and between the two, I’d rather wash my clothes in the bath tub than live through Skippy peanut butter for a whole month!
The nearly non-existent public transpo is just so horrible! We walked to Walmart the other day and that’s like a mile or so from home..and the heat…! I thought I was finally bidding heat goodbye when I left the Philippines last Monday and wow, was I ever wrong! Good thing, though that our rent includes flat rate utilities so an all-day aircon is no problem.
The toughest part is not having internet and having confusing mobile network providers. As I’m typing this entry, I barely have 10 minutes before this computer shuts down. I’m in a public library and if there’s anybody there who knows where in heck I can use an internet on a daily basis without breaking my kneecaps (there’s no chair in this place!)…please…holler back!

Journey to the West
Seven months of waiting come down to this night…but as Douglas MacArthur once said to the Philippines..I, too, shall return!

BFF’s FOCL
I have a childhood friend who is preggy again and another one who just gave birth. I have a cousin who’s about to give birth in a month’s time and I have a high school friend who just got married. Another friend just got engaged while a guy friend from high school has finally gotten himself a girlfriend! A best friend is cruisin’ Venice and another crazy friend quitting work to raise a baby in West Virginia…and me? Loving and thankful for my friends and so loving every single minute of my life!

Facedown
“Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence..” Joshua 5:14b
Today’s sing along song: Facedown by Matt Redman
Welcomed in to the courts of the King
I’ve been ushered in to Your presence
Lord, I stand on Your merciful ground
Yet with every step tread with reverence
And I’ll fall facedown
As Your glory shines around
Yes, I’ll fall facedown
As Your glory shines around
Who is there in the heavens like You?
And upon the earth, who’s Your equal?
You are far above, You’re the highest of heights
We are bowing down to exalt You
So let Your glory shine around
Let Your glory shine around
King of glory, here be found
King of glory
